Makers of Bronze Art specialized in the restoration of chandeliers for historical monuments, the Mathieu Family pursues her work, as did her predecessors, respecting the techniques of yonder. Her co-workers are graduates from the Boulle School or the art school of Uzès and are specialized in bronze setting and engraving. Their apprenticeship continues, as does that of the Mathieu family, at each new restoration work-site.
This business has been in their family for three generations. They are able to raise the awareness of their teams to a part of History, having a more than attentive look at the master pieces that “pass” through their hands. Indeed, no one has the right to ignore Art, when pieces inherent to our cultural inheritance are in question.
Also specialized in the reediting of ancient models, they are able to reproduce, from period drawings, finalized chandeliers and are also able to take a contemporary look on their work through the creations in pearls of crystal. Underlying link with their art of bronze makers, these crystal embroideries are characteristic of the decorative arts. As for chandeliers and anodized aluminum lamps, which are a part of their latest collection, they are a reediting of the lamps created in the sixties by the founder of the company, Monsieur Henri MATHIEU.
It is through these three activities: Restoration, reediting and creation, that they « sweep » through the ages, from the XVIIth to the XXIst century.

The museum charts the history of Apt and the surrounding area from the 1st century Ad to the present day.
The museum was built upon the ruins of an ancient Roman theatre, part of Apta Julia's Roman heritage along with the baths, necropoles, public buildings, forum, temple, and farms.
This part of the museum features pieces excavated from the Protohistoric oppidum of Perréal, the Roman sanctuary of Lardiers, the rural dwelling of Font Crémat, and the thermal baths of Apt. The pieces, including everyday objects such as coins, ceramics, clothing, glass, farming tools, games, crockery, and religious paraphernalia (votive objects and pieces used in funeral rites) lend fascinating insights into life in Apt over 2000 years ago.

The Apt Market has always been essential to the economy of the town and its surrounding area. Closely linked to the seasons, tradition, and local customs, the market began to thrive as early as the 12th century and in 1504, letters patent of the Seneschal of Provence made it an institution on Saturdays. Local historical records illustrate the fundamental importance - both social and economical - of markets and fairs in Apt. These lively events attracted tradesmen and visitors from far and wide.
Every Saturday morning, all year-round, the people of Apt and other villages of the Luberon rise early to go to the Market. The market is also extremely popular with estrangiés, ("foreigners" or "outsiders" in the local dialect) who come to soak up the colours and aromas of Provence.
In 1996, Apt's Market received the prestigious label "exceptional French market" for its lively atmosphere.
